Our Ministers

Dr. Jerry Mahan ~ Pastor Dr. Mahan began his service at First Baptist Moultrie in August of 2000. Dr. Mahan earned his doctorate degree in Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and his master’s degree in Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Mahan and his wife Claudette have two sons, Jeremy and Terry, and two grandchildren, Luke and Kate. Email JerryM52@fbcmga.org

Rev. Sam Stephens ~ Sr. Associate Pastor Sam has been Minister of Music since 1980. First Baptist has a very strong music program for all age groups. Sam ministers to our Senior Adults, which includes the group known as the Keenagers. In 2005 his title was changed to Sr. Associate Pastor to recognize his long term commitment and various duties at the church. He and his wife, Dianne, have two daughters, Gaile and Anne Marie. Rev. Jimmie McChristial ~ Minister of Education and Outreach Jimmie joined the staff in 2006. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is from Burleson, Texas. Jimmie and his wife Allison have two daughters-- Madison and Grace. Email Jimmie@fbcmga.org

Rev. Quillian Mercer - Minister of Youth Quillian joined the staff in April 2005. He graduated from the University of Georgia and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He grew up in Sandersville, GA. Quillian and his wife, Rachael, have three boys--Payton, Owen and Nathan. Email Q@fbcmga.org

Our Office Staff

Our church office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Our secretaries are well informed on the schedules and activities around First Baptist and will be glad to help.

Paula Neely is the Church Administrator. She assists Dr. Mahan with the day-to-day operations of the church such as finances, personnel, building maintenance and repairs. She supervises the office and custodial personnel. Paula has been an employee at First Baptist since 1996. She is married to John and they have two adult children--Jennifer and John Michael. Paula and her family are also members of First Baptist.

Rhonda Royals joined the staff as the Financial Secretary in July 2005 when Jodie Sloan retired after 27 years. Rhonda’s home is Texas where she gained over 25 years in accounting experience. She handles over $1,000,000 a year and her responsibilities range from handling the weekly task of receiving your offerings and paying bills to reporting to the finance committee on a monthly basis. Rhonda and her husband Mike have three children and two grandchildren.

Barbara Stripling is usually the first one to greet you when you call or come by. Barbara is in a multi-task position. Each week she manages her regular responsibilities along with many other requests from church members and staff. Barbara and her husband Don attend First Baptist. They have 2 adult children, Donna and Brent.

Rachael Mercer works part-time as our Publications Secretary. She publishes the weekly mail out and helps with the Web site and any publicity for the church. She is married to our Youth Minister, Quillian. They have three sons Payton, Owen and Nathan, and are expecting their fourth child in spring 2008.
